  Programs and Services

DHHS oversees four major programs:

  • The state Medicaid program, the health insurance program for more than 800,000 poor, disabled and elderly citizens.  Partners for Health is funded through state funds that are matched with federal money.
  • Child care services funded by the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF).  Child care is available for the disabled, those transferring off welfare, certain working parents, and those in school.
  • Services paid for by the Social Services Block Grant, that include child protective services, adult protective services, and home-based care that helps people stay independent and healthy.
  • Care programs provided through the Older Americans Act, like transportation and personal care services, and meals for people over age 60.
